Staff
The Rutgers Science Explorer is part of the outreach mission of the Rutgers Math and Science Learning Center (MSLC) and is affiliated with the Rutgers Graduate Teaching Fellows program. The Rutgers Science Explorer staff is drawn from these and other programs throughout the university, bringing together a commitment to science outreach and education, as well as a diversity of backgrounds and experiences. Together, staff members define and coordinate the Rutgers Science Explorers mission and activities.

Kathleen Scott

 
  The Rutgers Science Explorer program is directed by Kathleen Scott, professor of cell biology and neuroscience at Rutgers. Dr. Scott earned her doctorate at Yale University and has served on the Rutgers faculty since 1978. She is director of the Math and Science Learning Center and principal investigator of the National Science Foundation-funded Graduate Teaching Fellows program, Building a Learning Community in Mathematics and Science through Educational Partnerships. She currently teaches an introductory course, Moving Bodies, to nonscience majors at Rutgers. Dr. Scott is also a research associate at the Smithsonian Institution, where she is currently working on the muscular anatomy of the pygmy hippopotamus.
