The Rutgers Science Explorer (RSE) is one of the oldest Science Bus program in the nation. After 10 years of “Science on the move” thousands of middle schools students from New Jersey have participated of hands-on activities related to Rutgers research projects. We strive to increase scientific literacy and spark interest for STEM fields among the K-12 community by promoting the interaction of students with real scientists working on their graduate degrees at Rutgers. The RSE presents a unique experience for the K-12 students, teachers and Rutgers graduate students as the mobile lab visits local school. Participating students get to solve a problem by doing experiment on board of the RSE.
On 2016 the RSE Program was honored with the Outstanding Program for Innovative Teaching and Learning at the Mobile Laboratory Coalition Conference in Columbus, Ohio. This award serves as motivation to continue serving the New Jersey K-12 communities interested in engaging in the research world to learn about STEM topics. We thank the New Jersey schools, teachers, parents and administrators that support the RSE program.
